TEN FORUM BREAKFAST: WHAT TO EXPECT

DIARY DETAILS

You have been sent a calendar file to add the event to your diary; please make sure you have logged this. We ask that you aim to arrive by 08:30 for breakfast and networking. The discussion will start at 09:00; please let us know if you are running late.

DRESS CODE

The venue does not operate a dress code. Most guests will be on their way to work, so the norm will be business dress. Some might dress more formally; others may choose smart/casual. Whatever makes you feel comfortable!

THE ROOM & FOOD

The room is set with 3-6 round tables, each accommodating 5-8 guests. A TEN representative will be on hand to allocate you to a table. A hot and cold breakfast buffet will be available, with guests mingling before taking their places before 09:00. We’ll contact you in advance to ensure any dietary needs are taken care of.

THE DISCUSSION

The facilitator will lead and manage the conversation, which has three segments to it: interactive polling question followed by commentary from the host (15 minutes); table discussions of a topic (30 minutes); panel session (30 minutes).

You should feel free to contribute as much or as little as you feel comfortable doing. The conversation takes place under the Chatham House Rule, so please be as open as you can be.

THE END OF THE MORNING

Guests may choose to leave at any point once the structured discussion is over. For your travel home or onward, we’d advise you to plan to be there until at least 10:15. It’s not unusual for a smaller group to remain until 10:45; feel free to stick around for more coffee and networking if your schedule permits.

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT

Guest lists are carefully put together and cancellations can affect that balance. If anything looks likely to derail your plans, it will help greatly if you can identify a suitable substitute from within your organisation and let us know about the change. For last-minute changes, we appreciate that work and personal emergencies happen: please try your best to let us know as soon as you can.
